I moved to Faversham in Kent this year after spending 16 years in London. One of the things I’ve been itching to do is get out, on foot and on pedal, and explore the countryside – a beautiful binary of flat coastal marshes to the north, rolling chalk ridges and woodland to the south. One of the best ways, as I see it, to get intimate with an unfamiliar new home is to forage – as a forager you can’t help but a build a relationship with a place, and get a feel for the local ecology, the seasons and the landscape from the macro to the micro.
